About Drone Pilot HQ
Drone Pilot HQ is a small, independent site for people who fly — or want to fly — drones in the UK.
UK drone rules have changed a lot recently, and much of the advice online is written for the US or is out of date. We try to fix that with clear, practical guides that answer the questions new pilots actually ask: Do I need a Flyer ID? Where can I fly? Which drone should I buy first?
How we research
- Rules content is based on official guidance from the UK Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) and the Drone Code. We link to the official source so you can check it yourself, and we update articles when the rules change.
- Buying guides are researched, not lab tests. We compare manufacturer specifications, UK regulatory requirements (weight classes, class marks, Remote ID) and a wide range of independent reviews, then explain the trade-offs in plain English. We will never claim to have tested something we haven't.
- We are independent. No manufacturer pays for placement, and our picks aren't for sale.
How the site is funded
We earn a small commission when readers buy through some of our links, mainly from Amazon UK. It never changes the price you pay. Read our full affiliate disclosure.
